South African Instagrammers to inspire you this summer

The warm weather is here, and it’s time to get out there and capture your memories for the world to see. Who better to learn from than the country’s leading Insta influencers?

Johannesburg, 07 December 2021 – There are few things in life that can beat a South African summer.
Road trips, lazy beach days, great food, drinks and spending time with friends and family at picture perfect destinations, make the season unforgettable.

Summer 2021 will be especially memorable.

While a fourth wave of Covid-19 is anticipated, South Africa’s vaccination programme is well on track and the lifting of international travel restrictions means the republic is expecting an influx of foreign tourists.
It may be a new normal, but there is no doubt that the good times are set to roll again.

With sun and fun worshippers wanting to capture every moment, Instagram will become the digital playground of choice.

People are craving excitement and new experiences and will want to share them with as many people as they can.
Of course the days of the simple, ‘uncurated’ happy snaps are long gone. If you are going to upload to ‘Insta’, you want your photos and videos to be perfect.

Particularly among the younger generation, selfies have become the new digital currency, having come to define individuality and expressions of their lifestyles.

It is why smartphone manufacturers like TECNO Mobile have paid special attention to superior camera technology in their devices.

TECNO recently launched two new models in South Africa, the SPARK 7 Pro and the CAMON 17P, both of which produce sublime photographic and video content.

The CAMON 17P boasts a massive 6.8” FHD+ IPS Hole screen complemented by a 16MP Clear Selfie Camera and 64MP AI Camera, rounded off with a G85 Octa-core processor.

TECNO describes the CAMON 17P as the clearest selfie camera on the market within its price segment.
Notwithstanding the intelligent photo and video features of the device, getting the perfect summer shot does also require some inspiration.

There are a number of South African Instagrammers whose photos and videos already have become points of reference for South Africans to improve their own shots, simply by studying their profiles.

These individuals have become renowned for their striking content and imagery that immediately captures the imagination, compelling people to return to their profiles time and time again. Here are some tips to look out for this summer:

Zovuyo Msutwana (@ZoeMsutwana) is a style goddess on Instagram, and has also made a name for herself as a fashion digital content creator.
Her Insta account showcases her talent for identifying all the latest trends in terms of fashion and picturesque spaces . From chic to playful, her natural flair for effortless elegance makes her a go-to celebrity for her almost 100 000 followers on Insta.

Johannesburg’s Vicky Crease (vickycrease) is an award-winning caterer with offices in South Africa and the United States. She has also made a name for herself as a luxury event planner, designer and content creator.

Crease’s Instagram account is a marvel as her photographs gives followers an immediate idea of who she is and what she does. The culinary imagery is sharp and always includes an idyllic background, while the décor shots make use of softer tones to show off the elegance of the designs.

Crease also includes photos where she is seen having fun with her friends. In this way, her followers understand that she likes to let her hair down as well.

Mogau Seshoene (thelazymakoti) has featured on the Forbes Africa 30-under-30 hot list, and it’s little surprise.
The Gourmand World Cookbook Award Winner has become a national treasure for her nous in the kitchen and hearty South African meals.

Her more than 500 000 Instagram followers lap up photos of her latest culinary creations, book-signing events and red carpet events. If you want colour in your food photography, look no further than her account.

Capetonian Jared Ruttenberg (jardeincpt) has become well-known across the country.

As a travel journalist, his followers are able to experience the world with him via his videos and pictures, but Ruttenberg is also immensely proud of his home city and shows off the splendour of the Mother City as much as possible.

What is so enjoyable about his account is that the photographs show all aspects of his personality, from goofy to contemplative, depending on the setting and situation. He is just as likely to jump in the air as he is to ponder the wonders of nature.

Mohale Tebogo Motaung (@mohale_77) is the ultimate man about town. He is currently a CAMON 17P smartphone mega-influencer in South Africa, and from his Insta account it is not hard to see why.

Motaung is the CEO of Glam Troupe, which specialises in styling and makeovers for matric dances and graduations, while he is also the face of cutting-edge formal wear brand CSquared and The Finery Gin.

The radio presenter, actor, model and student’s Insta account reflects his fun-loving nature no matter what the setting, whether it’s relaxing in the bushveld, enjoying watersports or painting the town red.

Olwethu Leshabane (@Olwe2lesh) is an award-winning media entrepreneur known for successfully balancing her role as a wife and mom with her business ventures.

Her mommy-hacks and at-home DIY ideas, which have already made her a Buildersa ambassador, have made her an inspiration for hundreds of thousands of women across South Africa.

Her Insta account is a joy to view, as the images show her spending time with her loving family while also taking the time to give herself a break from her busy schedule.

From a purely photographic standpoint, Mike Eloff (lifeofmikeza) is inspiration incarnate.

Desert and seascapes are his speciality, eliciting a highly emotional response. His photographs are art, and while it is clear not everyone will possess his talent, the images will certainly give people many ideas for their own pictures.

With each passing day, thanks to advancements and access to affordable technology, more and more South Africans are refining their skills to become better Instagrammers.

There is almost no question that many more will join the ranks of these influencers in the months and years to come, so what better time than summer to invest in a smartphone to begin your own journey?
